UPSL DMV SOUTH SEMI-FINAL MATCH REPORT
After a long 3 hour trip to Lynchburg, VA our lads were prepared for the challenge. Unfortunately prior to the match starting, 2 weather delays pushed the kickoff back almost 2 hours. Our side started fast and had Lynchburg on their heels! Midfielder Nick Barahona won the ball in the midfield and played a ball over the line to Mac Nwulu who dribbled past two defenders and slotted the ball to the far right corner with a beautiful left footed strike. Halftime arrived and the boys were up 1-0. The second half saw controversy in many forms. Midfielder Ibrahim Conteh earned a red card after getting a second yellow. The boys fought for a large portion of the match down a man. When the 90th minute arrived, the refs informed both sides there would be 9 minutes of added time. Our defenders and goalkeeper Connor Jones made save after save to keep Lynchburg away. In the 99th minute, Lynchburg launched a long throw in to the box that proved to be dangerous and saw them tie the match 1-1. Two minutes later Lynchburg would earn the game winner on a free kick from distance.
This results ends our UPSL Spring 2025 campaign. We are extremely appreciative of the endless support from our fans, sponsors, and the club. We look forward to regrouping and preparing for our Fall 2025 campaign! Stay tuned for more updates!
