UPSL MATCH WEEK 3 REPORT: MASSIVE 9-1 win takes us top of THE table!
Saturday evening was nothing short of spectacular! Our lads put in a all around high quality performance to earn a 9-1 result. Maculey Nwulu opened the scoring in the 20th minute after Peter Mattocks back heeled the assist. Midfielder Chris Barnard scored our second after stealing the ball off a Villarreal defender and hitting a rocket from distance. Forward Martin Ngoh found Malik Thom for his first of the evening in the 26th minute. Nwulu earned a brace after netting his second of the evening in the 34th minute. 40 minutes in, Barnard hit a beautiful corner kick to find a high flying Ngoh who headed it home for his first on the night. Ngoh quickly earned his second in the 45th minute after Thom hit a low driven cross from the right side! Unfortunately coming out of the half we conceded one to Villarreal. A long switch ball found Mattocks who dribbled at pace towards goal and found Thom for his brace in the 5oth minute. Ngoh earned his hat trick in the 55th minute when he hit a stunning curler from outside the box. Barnard capped the scoring with a solo effort 78th minute.
General Manager Leland Creadick shared his thoughts on the match, “This performance is a true testament to the hard work the guys have put in on the training ground. This type of result is a confidence builder and a great step in the right direction. We will continue to build and fight to stay top of the table!”.
This result sees the team sit top of the DMV South table at 3-0-0 with 9 points earned and a goal difference of +14. We are back home this Sunday 4/27 as we host North Stars Berryville! Stay tuned for more details!
