UPSL VIRGINIA CHAMPIONS!

11.16.25 | UPSL Fall 2025 Virginia Conference Champions!

Our UPSL side has officially earned the title UPSL Fall 2025 Virginia Conference Champions! On a cold, windy evening that forced both teams to adapt, our lads rose to the occasion and delivered a statement performance.

We struck early. After a quick restart from a foul, Chris Barnard whipped a low cross into the box, where Peter Mattocks laid it off perfectly for Malachy McGovern to smash home the opener in just the 3rd minute. The referee kept a tight grip on the match, issuing several early yellow cards, and the game turned into a tense back-and-forth battle. We entered halftime with a hard-fought 1–0 lead.

The second half only intensified. Both sides pushed for more, but our defensive unit, and an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Maxim Davis, held firm, shutting down every attempt from the opposition. As the match reached its closing moments, we struck again. Midfielder Kareen Gharbi ignited a central attack, finding forward Tobi Osifeso, who beat his defender and squared the ball to Miles Powell. Powell calmly slotted it into the bottom corner in the 93rd minute to make it 2–0.

But Powell wasn’t done yet. Pressuring the opposing goalkeeper, he forced a turnover and fired a long-range shot into an open net in the 95th minute, sealing a dominant 3–0 victory.

With the final whistle, our team was crowned Virginia Champions! The celebration was made even more special by the presence of Arlington youth players who had supported us all match long and joined in lifting the trophy.

This victory secures our place in the National Tournament, where we will enter in the Round of 32 against the Mid-Atlantic Conference Champions. The match is scheduled for December 20th or 21st, with location and opponent to be announced soon.
